Alan Hobscheid

Alan Hobscheid works in oil painting, digital art, and photography. Hobscheid's subject matter ranges from landscapes and still lifes to images inspired by Jewish texts. He developed a pair of series of digitally manipulated images: one based on the biblical story of Jonah that investigates the nature of faith and fate, and the other a personal explorarion of his conversion to Judaism. Hobscheid's current work explores the role of the mythical creature, leviathan, in Jewish tradition and its modern interpretation.

Hobscheid exhibits his work both nationally and internationally, including the Jerusalem Biennale in 2017 and Spertus Institute in Chicago. Hobscheid is a cartographer and teaches geography at Roosevelt University.
