JACC participated in “Violins of Hope: Call and Response”, part of the Violins of Hope–Wisconsin residency coming to Milwaukee (Sept 2025–Jan 2026).
This powerful initiative—led by the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra—features restored Holocaust-era violins, presented alongside art and history exhibitions at venues including UW–Milwaukee Libraries and the Jewish Museum Milwaukee. These instruments, revived by Israeli luthiers, serve as moving reminders of resilience, memory, and the enduring power of music.
Our JACC members created original visual artworks in response to these violins and their stories. Spanning watercolor, tapestry, woodcut, oil, ink, sculpture, and digital media, each piece offers a contemporary reflection on the instruments’ history and legacy.
